Do I need an appointment?
We operate on an appointment only basis so each bride has our undivided attention and benefits from the exclusive use of our private dressing room and the entire boutique.
How long is each appointment?
Weekday appointments are one hour and 45 minutes.
Saturday appointments are two hours, however, this maybe reduced to allow for additonal cleaning time due to COVID-19 regulations.
Sample Sale appointments are one hour.
Re-trial appointments last 45 minutes.
Veil & Accessories appointments last 30 minutes.
Fittings with seamstress are arranged independently, this can be done via our website - the seamstresses are self employed and are not employed at H&W, just recommended, H&W facilitates the appointments but hold no responsibility for the work carried out by seamstresses.

The prices do not include alterations.
We also have Sample Gowns which are available to purchase they range from £300 to £1000 approximately, this gown is a sample that will have been on our rails. This does not include alteration fees.
When should I start looking for my dress?
In our experience, 10 months is the ideal length of time. This will enable you to have a couple of months gathering ideas and inspiration but still leave you with an adequate amount of time to place your order in accordance with our designers’ lead times. The more shops you initially visit and the longer you wait to place your order, the more stressful things will become.
As with all bridal boutiques, our dresses are sample sizes, (we mainly stock UK12-14), meaning that it’s unlikely that they will fit you perfectly. Don’t worry, we will do our best to give you an indication of how the same dress would look in your size, but some imagination may be required to envisage how the dress will sit once it’s made to your nearest measurements. However, you’ll definitely know when you’ve found the one; it’s an indescribable feeling when you know that you’re wearing your dress!
Who should I bring with me?
We strictly allow bride plus one guest.
What should I wear to my appointment?
I suggest you wear underwear that you don’t mind being seen in! It might seem obvious, but do try to wear flesh-coloured, seamless underwear if possible.
Alongside this, try to wear a good, uplifting strapless bra. Bad underwear affects the way material sits whereas good underwear will help the gown look its best.
We can provide shoes for your appointment, but as soon as you’ve purchased your actual wedding shoes, make sure to bring them along to all subsequent appointments as these will affect your alterations later on.
When should I order my dress?
Essentially, the sooner you place your order the better, as this will eliminate any unnecessary stress. 9-10 months covers the whole process from ordering to alterations, and we strongly advise you to adhere to this.
In certain circumstances, we can place a rush order with certain designers up to four months before the wedding, but this incurs an extra charge and increased stress levels!
Fittings take place two months before your wedding date.
Our late night appointments are on a Wednesday, giving all our brides extra time to come and see us.
How do fittings work?
When you decide on ‘the one’, we will take your measurements there and then or arrange an appointment for you to come back if there is time needed.
The seamstress will only take limited amounts of brides and priority will be given to brides purchasing on the first visit.
Depending on which designer you purchase from; either
We’ll send the measurements off to the designers who use this information to make your dress custom to those measurements. Or the gown will be ordered according to a measurements chart in your nearest size.
Around two months before your wedding date, your dress will be delivered to Halo & Wren.
At this point, your dress will need to be altered to fit you perfectly.
We have a recommended seamstresses; Sarah is independent from Halo & Wren however will meet Brides either at Halo & Wren for their fittings. **Please note that Jemma and The H&W are not present during fittings** Fitting appointments with Sarah must be booked via the H&W website.
Brides are under no obligation to use Sarah, and vice versa. Sarah is highly recommended and also very busy so we also work with other recommended seamstresses should Sarah not have availability.
You will normally need 3-5 appointments with seamstress. Please be aware alteration fees are not included in the price of your dress.
What is the photography policy?
H&W is a VERY relaxed Bridal Boutique and wants all Brides and their guests to feel welcome at all times.
Our personal recommendation on photographing your gown is once you have purchased your actual gown, you are more than welcome to take pictures. Prior to this point, however, we discourage taking photos as they generally give a false impression of the dress and we find that a a photo taken on an iphone of a Bride without her hair & make up done, wearing a gown that is very likely not going to fit her - with clamps and pins all over the gown...I hope you are understand where this is going.
Brides review their photos and critique themselves and the gown harshly. I am very happy to write down the name of the gown so you can google images or visit the gallery on this website where you will find images of the gown.
How does the payment process work?
We require 50% deposit for ordering your gown and the remainder 50% six weeks later, sample gowns are 100% payment at purchase. The cost of a gown does not include alterations, veils or accessories.
Please be aware that we are not able to offer refunds or exchanges and that all sales are therefore final. Once you paid your deposit you are contarctually agreed to pay for the gown in full.
We accept bank transfer, cash, Paypal all major cards except American Express.
We do not accept Cheques.
Where do I store my dress?
H&W can store a gown for a flat fee of £30.00 the gown is fully insured and kept in a safe storage room at H&W, which is camered, locked, alarmed and remotely viewed.
Do you supply a dress cover and a travel box?
For every Bride purcahsing a made to order gown we provide a Black Halo & Wren dress bag/cover, plastic hanger.
For sample sale gowns, we will provide a dress cover and a personalised H&W can be purchased for £10.00
For destination brides and Brides travelling abroad, we provide a travel box personalised by H&W for £30.00
What are the COVID-19 Precautions and Policies
Halo & Wren will endeavour to provide a safe environment for you to shop for your bridal gown, we have put into place some policies to protect you and ourselves.
My customers are my first priority - I have now been open since the beginning of July and I am into the swing of the 'new normal' I am pleased to announce that I am now allowing Bride plus two guests.
We highly encourage you to have researched the bridal gown's, so that you have a short list that you would like to try on, this avoids putting on gowns unneccesarily and therefore avoiding cross contamination.
Guests will not be permitted to touch the gowns and must remain seated throughout the appointment.
We will not be serving refreshments at this time however we have the facility for guests to help themselves.
Hand gel will be offered on entrance and will be available throughout the appointment.
Hand wash will be provided in the bathroom, however, as the bathroom is shared by staff we would like guests to avoid using the toilet if possible.
Facemasks will be worn by staff and we will remain as far away as possible from bride during appointment.
Gloves and masks will be offered to bride and guest.
Please understand that now is not the time to be browsing for a gown, unless you have decided that you're ready to purchase (finacially and emotionally), our appointments are extremely limited due to the backlog of appointments. For H&W to be throughly and appropriatly cleaned between brides we also reducing the amount of appointments that we will be opening for, so please make sure you are vsiting for the right reasons.
